听力原文

Text 1

W: What’s on at the movies, John?
M: Let me see, Mary. Ordinary Angels and Bob Marley: One Love are now showing at most theatres. But there is something special at the Star Cinema—Kung Fu Panda 4 is on there.
W: Let’s go to the Star Cinema. The other two sound boring.
Text 2
M: How was your room last night?
W: Great. I slept like a baby. The bed is comfortable, and the rate is quite reasonable. Can I check out now?
M: Sure.
Text 3
W: Tim, you worked overtime again yesterday. You'd better not push yourself that hard, or your health will break down.
M: Thanks. I plan to take a holiday after finishing this project.
Text 4
W: Mr. King, I’m happy that you decided to come in for your physical check up.
M: I’m going abroad to attend a conference, and I want to make sure I don’t have any problems.
Text 5
W: Have you given out your monthly report yet?
M: No, I haven’t. I was planning to give it out this afternoon.
W: Please do it as soon as possible. The monthly report is supposed to be given out before lunch hour.
M: I’m sorry. I didn’t know that. I’ll do it right away.
Text 6
M: Wow! You look amazing, Caroline!
W: Thanks! I’ve been taking ballet classes. The exercises are very challenging. They have helped me get into great shape.
M: I didn’t know you were a dancer.
W: Oh, I’m not. But there’s a studio near my house that lets regular people take classes and do ballet exercises. It helps the studio make money, and it gives us a chance to get fit.
M: Are there only women in the classes?
W: No, there are men, too. Do you want to come with me sometime?
M: No, thanks. I prefer running in the park. The sunshine and fresh air are good for me.
Text 7
M: I’d been there several times before, but this was the first time I had had any difficulties.
W: Difficulties? What sort of difficulties?
M: I’d never been there in March before and I’d completely forgotten the festival they have there every year.
W: And they had put up the prices in the hotels?
M: No, not really. That wasn’t the problem. There were simply too many people there and we couldn’t find a room .
W: How terrible! What did you do??
M: I contacted a colleague who lives in a village nearby and fortunately, he put us up for a few days.
Text 8
M: What a beautiful place!
W: Yeah. After the grayness of Manhattan, the colours of Hawaii seem so bright.
M: Well, I’ve been to a lot of amazing beaches in San Diego and Miami, but this is definitely one of the nicest ones I’ve been to. Why don’t we go for a swim? I hear there are lots of fish we can see.
W: Good idea. I can use my new video camera — it’s waterproof.
M: Wow, where did you get that?
W: I got it in Manhattan a week ago. The bodies of their cameras are designed to be extra strong. The camera can handle being dropped, and 1 can use it underwater up to 60 metres deep.
M: And it’s so small and lightweight. How much did it cost?
W: Well, I could have gotten the older model for $ 180. But I bought the latest version for $ 300, because it’s lighter and has better picture quality. I also spent an extra $ 30 for an extra battery pack.
M: Well, let’s go, so you can use it!
Text 9
M: You took part in the annual city Marathon last week. That’s awesome. I didn’t know you are an athlete.
W: Thank you, but it’s just a hobby. Marathons allow me to escape from my tiring work at the law office.
M: What about the race? Did you complete the whole course?
W: I ran a half Marathon, about thirteen miles altogether. It took me about two hours.
M: Oh, I couldn’t even picture myself running that long, especially in such hot windless days.
W: The race started at eight o’clock and luckily there were enough clouds the whole morning.
M: Did you carry any supplies with you?
W: No, the volunteers would provide us with enough supplies along the path. It wasn’t as tough as you think. Would you like to join me next year?
M: Eh, I think I can help distribute the supplies and cheer for the athletes.
W: That’s a great idea.
Text 10
W: Good afternoon, everyone. Star Books UK is the largest bookstore of health, medicine, education and human life sciences. Many of you must have bought books from it. Now here’s a piece of good news from Star Books for you. It has published a new English dictionary recently to help young students study English. And it decided to hold a half-price sale from Monday, March 7th through Friday here. And I’m sorry to say that it can’t be bought in bookstores at this price, because I’m a direct seller of this company. The newly-published English dictionary covers all the words and phrases secondary school students need to know. It also provides clear meaning of the words together with helpful explanations and good examples. The price will be cut by fifty percent for these five days. If you want to buy one, you can either tell your teachers or directly buy one in front of the main teaching building. We’re looking forward to seeing you.
